Airdrie.
"High Slope" - From the
Gaelic word Ardruigh.
Originally a market town where travellers
would rest on their way to Glasgow or Edinburgh. Mining and weaving
were the main industries, and although mines have long gone, weaving
is still one of the main industries of the town.
